Call for applications for JSCAN Managing Editor position

The Journal of Strategic Contracting and Negotiation (JSCAN) is the official journal of the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management. The journal, now in its third year, publishes research and theory about practices that challenge the status quo in strategic contracting and negotiations.

The Editors are looking for a Managing Editor to assist with the running of the journal, and the full call for Managing Editor is available here.

We expect the role to be approximately 5-10 hours a week and to be geographically independent. An editorial remuneration is offered.

Psychological Reports: Call for Editor

Current Issue CoverSAGE Publishing is accepting applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Psychological Reports for a 3-year-term through May 6, 2016. An editorial stipend is provided.

Psychological Reports is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed journal that publishes original and creative contributions across all subfields of psychology. The 2014 Impact Factor is 0.560 and it is ranked 94/129 in Multidisciplinary Psychology in Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Reports. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Major responsibilities for this role include:

  • Collaborating with the Publisher and current co-editor to make Psychological Reports a highly effective and impactful resource for psychology research through a strategic review and development of the journal’s policies and processes.
  • Seeking and soliciting high-quality manuscripts which represent the scope of the Journal.
  • Using the manuscript-tracking software provided by the Publisher to arrange for and supervise timely peer review and evaluation of submitted manuscripts for content and merit in accordance with editorial policy and standards of the Journal.

Recent articles published in Psychological Reports include “Chinese Employees’ Psychological Responses to Abusive Supervisors: The Role of Gender and Self-Esteem” and “Understanding the Mediating Role of Quality of Work Life on the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Citizenship Behaviors.”

Organization and Environment: Call for Editor

Organization & Environment is currently accepting applications for the position of Editor. The term of office will last for three years, beginning January 1, 2017 with the March 2017 issue, and ending December 31, 2019. The incoming editor will begin processing new manuscripts six months prior to the full transition date.

Published since 1987, Organization & Environment is an SSCI listed refereed journal recognized as a leading international journal unique in its emphasis on the connection between the management of organizations and the multiple dimensions of the general environment. Ranked in both Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, as well as Environmental Science, the journal currently has a 1.036 2-Year Impact Factor. Recent topics explored in the journal include the environmental impact of the commercial bumble bee trade, the buying-local movement as it corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate water responsibility.

Desired qualifications for the Editor include:

  • A strong record of scholarly contributions, including contributions to sustainability research, reflected in publication in scholarly journals and presentations at professional conferences
  • oae coverEvidence of a strong network of scholars in other sub-disciplines of business
  • The ability to articulate and operationalize a vision for the journal that sustains and builds upon its visibility, legitimacy and scholarliness
  • The ability to inspire creativity and enthusiasm in an editorial team, editorial board and authors

  • Familiarity with and an understanding of Organization & Environment’s mission and audience

Advances in Developing Human Resources Seeks Editor-in-Chief!

Published quarterly, each issue of Advances in Developing Human Resources is devoted to a different topic central to the development of human resources. The journal has covered subjects as wide-ranging and vital as performance improvement, action learning, on-the-job training, informal learning, work-life balance, career development and human resource development, leadership, and the philosophical foundations of HRD practice.

The term of office is three years, beginning in July 2015. A stipend is provided.

Desired qualifications for the position include:

  • Experience as an editor, associate or assistant editor, or editorial review board member
  • Familiarity with Advances in Developing Human Resources – its mission and the audience it serves
  • A demonstrated ability to lead an editorial team, editorial board, and authors and reviewers
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to ensure publication deadlines are met and quality is maintained
  • Evidence of support and commitment from the applicant’s institution – particularly in terms of release time and administrative support

The Journal of Management (http://jom.sagepub.com) is among the elite journals in the field of management. With a 2-year impact factor of 4.6 and a 5-year impact factor of 6.8, Journal of Management is currently ranked 4th in Business/Management and 1st in Applied Psychology. Journal of Management publishes high impact theoretical and empirical papers within the areas of organizational behavior, human resource management, research methods, business strategy and policy, entrepreneurship, and organizational theory, and has a thriving Annual Review issue with a competitive peer-reviewed proposal process. The Southern Management Association provides a sizable budget, to be distributed as deemed appropriate by the Editor. This could be used to support/supplement items such as but not limited to:

  • Board member gifts
  • Event sponsorship

The Southern Management Association also provides beyond the Editor’s operating budget:

  • Funds for the editorial board meetings and receptions at the Academy of Management and the Southern Management Association.
  • Associate Editor Honoraria

Support from one’s home institution is also seen as necessary for the success of the journal. In the past, support has come in the form of:

  • A research assistant to serve as managing editor
  • Staff/administrative support
  • Physical space for housing the journal office
  • A teaching reduction for each year of the editorial term
  • Summer salary
  • Technology support
