We invite your proposal for the annual OBTC Teaching Conference for Management Educators, the world’s premier management education conference. The OBTC culture was born decades ago at Stanford University and will be fully celebrated at our 40th anniversary conference.
Our society (obts.org) prides itself on innovation and exploration through the prestigious Journal of Management Education and through the OBTC conference. The conference has a strong tradition of inquisitive and daring dialogue that encourages attendees to discover and try different philosophies and methods for teaching and learning. Expect 300 or more attendees in an informal, supportive, and welcoming atmosphere – part of what makes OBTC Different.
Asheville, nestled in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, is renowned for its eclectic and thriving arts community, and is consistently noted by artists, musicians, foodies, and beer enthusiasts as a rich mecca for those seeking an array of tastes and sounds. Asheville is proud to be Different (obtc.org/content/2013).
Submissions are encouraged from any area of management education, broadly defined. Many of our members teach throughout the world in business, public administration, management, and related disciplines including accounting, operations management, psychology, economics, environmental studies, and sociology. Others consult and engage in professional education and training. All are committed to making a Difference through innovative and creative learning and teaching.
We welcome your submission to one or both of the two tracks: Teach Different (teaching methods and learning activities) and Think Different (teaching and learning philosophies, current debates and controversies, or even emerging paradigm shifts). When you submit, you will be asked to specify the track you think is most appropriate for your proposal(s). Examples and more complete explanations of the tracks are at obtc.org/content/tracks. This year we are introducing a new submission feature called Quick Decision. While the final deadline for all submissions is January 21, 2013, if you submit a session proposal by November 10, 2012 you will receive a response by December 15, 2012 as to whether you proposal is accepted, declined, or returned for an opportunity to revise-and-resubmit (by the January 21 deadline). Proposals (including revisions) made after November 10 and by January 21 will receive an accept or decline decision by early March 2013. Please see obtc.org/content/quickdecision for more details.
